Show Synopsis
When Claudia Kincaid decides to run away from home, she chooses a rather unusual destination: the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Everything about the museum is perfect: it’s warm and safe, there are an almost infinite number of hiding places and, best of all, she and her little brother Jamie will be able to learn everything there is to know about art.
Claudia has very good reasons for running away. Abandoning her routine-driven home life in search of adventure, she longs for something – anything – that will make her feel like a grown-up. But even Claudia is unprepared for what she will find. There is such intrigue surrounding a certain small marble statue in the museum that the Kincaids resolve to get to the bottom of things.
Is this statue, nicknamed Angel, actually the work of legendary sculptor Michaelangelo? With the help of the eccentric Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler – Angel’s former owner – Claudia and Jamie are given the opportunity to discover the statue’s secret.
In ArtsPower’s fun and suspenseful drama, based on the Newbery Medal-winning book by E.L. Konigsburg, Claudia and Jamie learn some important truths about themselves and each other as they attempt to unravel the mystery of the sculpture.
