Volunteer Opportunities
Positions & Committees
Ushering: Members are trained in emergency procedures and to usher at Morrison Center events. This involves taking tickets at the outer doors, standing at each Main Hall entrance, assisting with foot traffic in the lobby, directing event patrons to their seats, and operating the cloak room.
Refreshments: Members of the refreshment committee sell coffee, soft drinks and sweets from refreshment booths and tables during most performance intermissions. They also participate in training procedures.
Gift Shop: Open for sales at most events, two or three committee members staff the Morrison Center's gift shop before performances, during intermissions, and briefly after the shows.
Mailings: Members of this committee prepare and coordinate mailings to the membership. This involves labeling invitations, newsletters and membership directories.
Newsletter: The committee edits, researches, and writes articles for the membership's newsletter, the Curtain Call.
Membership: The committee processes membership applications, prepares the membership directory, promotes membership, and works to ensure member satisfaction.
Publicity: Promotes membership activities, membership drives and distribution of materials to cultivate interest and support of the membership and the Morrison Center.
Receptions: This group plans and hosts the Fall Membership event, Annual Spring Meet and any other receptions throughout the year.
Assistive Listening: At no cost to the patron the Morrison Center provides a listening assistive device to help the hearing impaired.
Floral Arrangements:
This committee provides floral arrangements for performances and for special occasions.
Historian:
The historian records events and press memorabilia in the membership scrap book archives.
Membership Requirements

application
form and mail with dues to Membership Chairperson. Dues are for the fiscal year July 1 through June 30, and are not pro-rated.
ORIENTATION: All new members must receive Orientation prior to assignment at the Morrison Center. Subsequent orientations are every other year after that. Orientation sessions are normally scheduled at the Morrison Center during the Saturday morning Boise Philharmonic Rehearsals at 10 AM (usually once a month during the Fall and Winter seasons). Orientation may be scheduled at other times if needed.
VOLUNTEER DRESS CODE: Women must wear dark or black skirts or slacks, dark or black shoes, and white blouse. Men must wear dark or black slacks, dark or black shoes, white dress shirt and dark (conservative) necktie. (dark bow ties are acceptable). The organization furnishes and maintains the blazers which must be worn by USHERS, GIFT SHOP and PHONIC EAR volunteers; the aprons worn by REFRESHMENT volunteers are also furnished.
VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENTS: USHERS, GIFT SHOP & PHONIC EAR volunteers are required to arrive at the Center and be in uniform 90 minutes prior to the scheduled show start. REFRESHMENT volunteers are required to be at the Center in uniform 30 minutes prior to scheduled show start. REFRESHMENT Pre-Show Volunteers must be in uniform and ready to staff their assignment 60 minutes prior to show start.
PARKING: Assigned volunteers will be permitted to park in the closed parking area, including yellow zone, at the rear of the Morrison Center. An attendant will give you a parking pass upon arrival. Spaces are limited, especially when busses or large trucks associated with the show may be parked there also. If the lot is full upon arrival, volunteers may park in other parking spots including the parking garage. No parking will be permitted in dormitory parking areas, and attendants will be there to ensure that you don't park there.
VIEWING ROOMS: Working volunteers (except those assigned to usher posts inside the Main Hall) will be permitted to view the performance from enclosed viewing rooms at the rear of the Hall and accessed at the Second Floor Crossover. These rooms may be entered only after authorized by the Viewing Room Monitor and are not open until approximately 30 minutes prior to show start. No cameras or flashlights may be used in the viewing booth at any time. A clock is provided to enable volunteers to meet their respective assignments on time. NOTE: In rare instances, show production equipment facilities may occupy one of the viewing booths, leaving only one booth available to volunteers. In that case, volunteers will be assigned to the viewing room for one-half of the show, thus allowing working volunteers to see at least one-half of the show. Unfortunately, this information is not usually known until just prior to the performance.
As Center volunteers, we are here to serve the Center and the patrons. Viewing the show is secondary. We have lots of fun - with a lot of great people and we look forward to having you join us. Sign-up today and WELCOME!
